KUNSTNEREN OG OLJE-EVENTYRET 2024

«Kunstneren og Oljeeventyret» er en nyskapende tegnet bok som kombinerer poesi, tegneseriekunst og samfunnskommentar. Boken tar utgangspunkt i kunstnerens egne erfaringer fra utstillingen «Ideas, but in things» på Kunsthall 3,14. Boken balanserer mellom å problematisere forbrukersamfunnet – med temaer som fremmedgjøring, materialisme og løpsk kapitalisme – og å anerkjenne de mulighetene oljeeventyret har gitt norske kunstnere. Gjennom en eventyrlig og fabelliknende fortellerstil, blandet med elementer fra slam- og gatepoesi, gir boken et unikt blikk på kunstnerens manøvrering i et samfunn preget av olje og økonomisk vekst. Med både humor og alvor tematiserer boken de praktiske og økonomiske utfordringene kunstnere møter, og hvordan viktige ytringer kan bli oversett i samfunnsdebatten dersom de ikke får plass i det offentlige rommet. Resultatet er en poetisk og visuell reise gjennom kunstnerens møte med oljeeventyret – en bok som utfordrer, engasjerer og gir rom for ettertanke.

“The Artist and the Oil Adventure” is an innovative illustrated book that combines poetry, comic art, and social commentary. The book is based on the artist's own experiences from the exhibition “Ideas, but in Things” at Kunsthall 3,14.The book balances between problematizing consumer society—with themes such as alienation, materialism, and runaway capitalism—and acknowledging the opportunities the oil adventure has provided Norwegian artists. Through a fairy tale-like and fable-inspired narrative style, blended with elements of slam and street poetry, the book offers a unique perspective on the artist's navigation in a society shaped by oil and economic growth. With both humor and seriousness, the book addresses the practical and economic challenges artists face, and how important expressions can be overlooked in public debate if they do not have space in the public sphere.The result is a poetic and visual journey through the artist's encounter with the oil adventure — a book that challenges, engages, and provides room for reflection.
